The Secret Stats of Bradshaw Bourbon
When my friends at Bradshaw Bourbon—founded by NFL legend and Four time Super Bowl Champion with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Terry Bradshaw—were creating their flagship bourbon alongside Terry and Jacob Call, their biggest challenge was finding the ultimate proof. Terry liked it fairly high, leaning toward the 102 to 105 range.
After several blending sessions, they couldn't agree on the exact "sweet spot."
That’s when co-founder Ryan McElveen suggested looking up some of Terry’s career stats. 51.9% was Terry’s NFL career pass completion rate.
So, they blended it at double that: 103.8 proof. Everyone tasted it and were all shocked that it was, in fact, the sweet spot. That is their proof to this day.
They don’t advertise that detail because they never wanted it to feel like they created the blend or the brand around a gimmick. It was just a happy coincidence.
And as Terry often says, "This is the first time in my life being completely average has paid off."
